About Our Client

The Client is an international Fund Administrator which operates a back-office servicing arm in Mauritius, covering hedge fund and private equity administration, portfolio accounting and valuation, shareholder servicing, accounting, audit and tax services.

Job Description

The Managing Director will work closely with local managers and offshore department heads to ensure teams are properly managed, workflows are efficient, and productivity is on track. Reporting lines are dotted, but the MD presence will be central to the functioning of the office, organizational effectiveness, and supporting the executive leadership team.

Responsibilities:

  • Champion a positive office culture, helping make the company a place people want to come to work.
  • Contribute to local strategic planning and help align Mauritius office operations with broader company goals.
  • Lead office-wide communications including management check-ins, team meetings, and town halls.
  • Oversee daily office operations to ensure a productive and well-supported environment for staff.
  • Partner with department heads on hiring, onboarding, coaching and development efforts, ensuring new and existing staff are set up for success.
  • Monitor and reinforce expectations around resource planning, attendance, time tracking, efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a point of escalation for employee queries, conflicts, or site-specific concerns, resolving them fairly and promptly.
  • In partnership with HR, support performance management and progressive discipline processes to uphold standards and support improvement.
  • Manage vendor relationships, office supplies procurement, and budgets while ensuring effective cost control.

The Successful Applicant

  • 10+ years of progressive operations and/or management experience in a corporate office environment, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong people management skills with a track record of building high performing, engaged teams.
  • Experience supporting performance management processes, including coaching and progressive discipline. Background or significant hands-on experience in human resources or employee relations is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of operational policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing budgets, overseeing facilities, and vendor relationships.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and professionally.
